I am Ali Sina Sharifi, a journalist, peace and human rights activist from Afghanistan currently live in the US. I have witnessed and suffered from discrimination, war and violence since I was born.
In 2008, the school I went to as a first grade and six year old student was attacked by the religious extremists with stones and petrol in their hands. I was lost for hours in the city. Since then I have lost dozens of my friends and schoolmates in explosions by Taliban and ISIS who are acronyms for brutality and violence in our world.
In the early spring of 2019, I joined the Peace On Earth by 2030 Game as one of first team leaders and formed my team of peace activists in Kabul called Reinventors of the World inspired by the Reinvent the Planet project powered by Empowerment Institute with the goal of getting 100 million people together and raising torches of peace worldwide. We completed the seven actions and simultaneously, had our weekly meetings with the Afghan young generation to inspire them to start to contribute to peace, freedom and human right values. We practice empowerment, leadership, networking and communication in addition to befriending and creating a better environment to live. We learn and convey what we learn.
After the first wave of Covid pandemic finished in 2020, I started my new job for the first edutainment TV in Afghanistan called SA TV as presenter and reporter of a routine show promoting peace, kindness, human rights and civic education and also some of our team members joined the TV to help us enrich the culture of peace. At the same time, Reinventors of the World was running its online campaigns for spreading the positive energy in the community through social media.
We were completing all actions while our schools and centers were under attack. But we didn’t stop, kept our hope up and stood for our vision and goal. Afghanistan collapsed on August 15, 2021. Many of our dream keepers have been scattered throughout the world or are suffering under the Taliban. But we all dream of witnessing a beautiful world where individuals live together with their differences. We believe If the Taliban or any other terroristic groups play their game, we play ours on our own ground.
